RETOS VARNSDORF and Rajmont s.r.o. present the largest vertical induction hardening machine in Central Europe

20. 11. 2025

At a time when most European engineering companies lack the courage to invest in large development projects, two purely Czech companies have come up with something unparalleled in the region: a 630 kW vertical induction hardening machine capable of hardening cylindrical parts up to 6 metres long and 380 mm in diameter.

It all started in the autumn of 2023. One of the largest European manufacturers of cylindrical components for the power industry and heavy engineering approached RETOS with a clear brief: "We need to harden shafts and rolls 5–6 metres long, 250–350 mm in diameter, with a hardened layer up to 3 metres along the length. Nobody in Europe can do it reliably and in the required quality."

That was Rajmont's cue. The company had several large vertical hardening machines in its portfolio, but none this extreme. "We had a machine rated at 400 kW with a 4-metre hardening length, but 630 kW and 6 metres of clamping length was a new level even for us," admits Zdeněk Rajmont, founder and owner of the company.

The two companies clicked immediately. RETOS appreciated Rajmont's vast technological experience, while Rajmont valued the precision, robustness and production capacity of RETOS. The cooperation agreement was concluded within a few weeks.
